Who would have thought that this headline would be on the papers Monday morning? The Dolphins came into the game looking worse than last year, the Patriots were undefeated with 22 straight regular season wins and they still looked like they were favorites to make the Super Bowl from the AFC. When the game ended and Miami had won in dominating fashion, Ronnie Brown looked like one of the new elite stars on the NFL and the fans of the greatest pro team on the face of the earth had hope once again. Brown finished the game with over 100 yards on the ground, one passing TD, and 4 rushing TD’s. Unbelievable! I don’t want to read too much into this singular win, but one thing I did take away is that if Ronnie Brown can stay healthy he will be a legit star in this league.
In the Life Pointe league, I look pretty strong for a win this week against O Beason. If LaDainian Tomlinson has a huge game tonight (I am talking almost Ronnie Brown numbers) then I might lose. The good news is that he is not projected to carry enough times to score that many points. That should put me at 2-0 with one of the strongest teams in the league. The fantasy guru, Pastor Trav, is looking at a possible 0-2 with a loss to “Puttin on the Ritz”. He needs a TD or about 90 yards from Cotchery to win, and 80 to tie. Jesse is going to go 2-0, and Mark Similey’s Dead Skins are going to go 2-0 with a win against Paul’s “skins”.
On Saturday, the Miami Hurricanes looked like the Canes of old as they totally demolished the Aggies of Texas A&M at College Station. Supposedly, College Station is one of the toughest places in college football to win a game. Apparently it is, if you are an Aggie. Texas A&M lost to Arkansas State at College Station earlier in the year. One of the most exciting aspects of the game was seeing the Canes flying all over the field laying big hits on everyone. LB’s were smacking RB’s, DB’s were pounding WR’s until they did not even want to get up, and the whole team was swarming to the football. We also have a leader with some serious physical talent at QB. Marve is the real deal. This coming week we have a nice test against Butch Davis and the UNC Tarheels who look like they could compete for the ACC crown this year. WOOSH WOOSH!
