Kudos to the Miami Dolphins for an incredible season. They say that the season is a failure unless you win the championship. I don’t believe that we Dolphin fans feel that way this year. We succeeded by exceeding everyone’s expectations this year.
As for the game, here are some things to take away.
-The Dolphins turned the ball over only 13 times all year, an NFL record, but managed 5 turnovers yesterday.
-Pennington (2nd in MVP voting) threw 4 interceptions yesterday which is a Dolphins record. He only had 7 interceptions all year.
-Cam Cameron is the offensive coordinator for the Ravens. As of yesterday’s win, he now has more wins in Dolphins Stadium in one game than he did all last year as head coach of the Dolphins.
-Future Hall of Fame Free Safety Ed Reed of the U was a one man wrecking crew. He had one heck of an interception return for a TD, and a second interception in the red zone when Miami was making a furious effort to come from behind. Ed “Greedy” Reed is maybe the best free safety to play the game.
-The wildcat was tamed yesterday. It gained 7 yards on two plays. We had a feeling that would happen against the Ravens.
-I will be pulling for the Ravens to go all the way this year. The U is well represented in Baltimore with Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, and Willis McGahee.
The Ravens and the Eagles won yesterday. Sunday was the day of the favorites. The Chargers beat the favored Colts in a bigtime surprise game, and the Falcons lost at the Cardinals in a mild upset. That means Saturday was the day of the upset.
The big game to watch for this year is in the NFC Championship with a potential matchup of the Panthers and the Giants. The league appears to be wide open this year with no huge favorite. We know that favorites don’t exactly meet expectations anyway, don we Patriot fans?
