Fevered Thoughts

-I’m sick again. Seems like every other week for the past few months I have had a cold, cough, or sore throat.

-This one is strange. I got a cough, then a fever and headache, then body aches, then I felt all better this morning when I woke up, then I got all the symptoms again only worse around 8 AM.

-My fever and headache has subsided, but I still have the cough and now a stuffy head.

-I think I am going to make it through the day. I almost called out last night, but I hate to miss work for a cough.

-I’m finished with my interview process for this iteration of the new operations class. I think I will find out the results within a week.

-The outage has been extended. That means more work opportunities, but also less rest to recovery from my mystery sickness.

-I promise to work this weekend on getting some pics and videos up from my trip to Cozumel, Cayman, and Jamaica.

-I think you’re going to like the videos of the stingrays, that may have been the best part of the trip.

-I was inspired to go snorkeling this weekend with Marcela, but I am not going unless I feel better.

-In case you wondered, Max didn’t even notice we were gone. My mom and dad took care of him while we vacationed and he had a good time being trained by “The Hammer” (my dad’s new nickname) and petted by my mom.

-He’s been very sleepy since we got back. Marcela theorizes that he is going through a growth spurt. He’s perfectly content to sleep nearly all day.

-I ran 49 rounds through the Kel Tec on Monday and had 3 rounds that failed to feed correctly. 450 rounds through the Glock and no issues, and 50 rounds through the Mossberg.

-I also picked up 50 rounds of 00 Buckshot and 50 rounds of rifled slugs. Another 50 rounds of each and I should be pretty well set for a while.

-The tea parties that took place across the nation yesterday drew an estimated national crowd of 150,000 Americans fed up with the waste and high taxes in this government.

-The parties were poo-poo’ed by the left wing media as right wing kooks organized by powerful interest groups and Fox News.

-Regardless of whether that was true or not, what happened to the message that “vote or die”, “rock the vote” and other left wing movements pushed over the past 8+ years that anything which draws people to the political process is good? This is the finest example of hypocrisy I have seen in a while.

-Janet Napolitano and the Obama admins Homeland Security department is casting some serious derogatory and nasty light on God-fearing people who believe in smaller government and the right to life. They’ve categorized people like me (I am pro-life and against a massive federal government and for local control) as potential threats to homeland security in a memo sent to all state and local law enforcement agencies.

-She also stated that another potential threat comes from military personnel returning from warzones over seas who may be having difficulty adapting to civilian life. It’s downright sickening what the left will stoop to in order to secure power.

-Enough political rant, I’m out. Hopefully I won’t be assigned to mandatory OT and I’ll be at church Sunday morning. See you then!

More Metro Zoo Madness

Saturday, I took Marcela to the zoo where we met up with Dave and Jackie Vargas and their little ones.  Little David Jr has more energy than just about any kid I have ever seen.  The top spots at the zoo are definitely the Chimp exhibit, the tigers, Amazon and Beyond, and the Wings of Asia Aviary.  The Aviary was so peaceful and beautiful.  Marcela got some great pictures.

New Thoughts

-The old man known as 2008 has breathed his last breath and the little baby 2009 has been born. Little 2009 is in diapers, yet it is projected to be a monster. We shall see.

-Pet Peeve: It’s “Happy New Year” or “Happy New Year’s Day”, not “Happy New Years”. There is only one New Year at a time.

-The Miami Heat beat the Cleveland Cavs to make it two wins over the two best teams in each conference (Lakers were the other) over the last couple of weeks. They have already surpassed last year’s win total. That’s two Miami sports franchises turning it around from dismal records last season.

-With my work day starting as early as it does, I knew I had to go to sleep early. I tried, but every time I started to drift to sleep, someone shot a fire cracker and Max barked.

-Last night was going to be my first night in my memory in which I missed seeing in the New Year. Due to my little buddy Max, I ended up going to sleep at 12:30 AM. I did get to kiss Marcela at midnight, though.

-I finally beat Marcela in bowling on the Wii. She nearly came back to beat me, but she came up 5 pins short after I built a huge lead.

-Marcela stayed up until about 11:30 cooking her “chilis rellenos”. I ate the first one, it was most excellent!

-My sis-in-law is going camping this weekend. So I broke out my tent and some camping gear. It’s been about 3 years since I used it. While doing an inventory of the tent parts, Vivi discovered a gecko egg with a baby gecko inside. By “discovered” I mean she accidentally crushed it. NASTY!

-Go Dolphins! I am still in shock that they have made the playoffs and won 11 games.

-Marcela’s new camera I gave her for Christmas has been great. Yesterday we went to the Everglades and she took some wonderful pictures. I will be sure to load them on flckr and post the link. In the mean time, check out my twitter account to see some of the pics I have uploaded.

Max Factor

Marcela’s sister Viviana is visiting us for a few weeks.  She has a way with animals.  So our faithful and loyal Max has abandoned us for Vivi.  She spoils him, talking to him like a baby, constantly petting him and playing with him.  He’s eating it up!  He also enjoys not being locked up during the day while I am at work.  Sunday, it became obvious that he is attaching to her for now because he sits outside of her door and barks for her to come out and play.  Well, Saturday we headed out to Biscayne National Park to walk, see the bay, and go out to the jetty.  We took Max and Marcela snapped off a picture or two.  Max loved the wind, the water, and the fresh air.  There was also a cute little girl that wanted to hug Max every time she saw him.  She couldn’t have been more than 3 years old.  Her hands were covered with lolly pop mixed with saliva, so Max got a little sticky from it.  Just like every time we take the little booger out with us, Max was a star.  Everyone wanted to talk to him or pet him.  We had 4 or 5 more people who called him a girl.  He can’t help it, but he does look like a girl.  He also got a little sea sick and barfed up his breakfast, even though he didn’t get on a boat.

Max Factor

Christmas day is almost here so Marcela and I wanted to get a Christmas picture of jolly ole St. Max for the blog today, especially for Ela. Marcela had a little flashing hat. The funny thing is that he didn’t even try to take the hat off.

Aside: The pictures are taken with my new Curve, which for some reason takes better pictures than the old one.

The Max Factor

Every time I post a picture or a new video of Maximus minimus, you can see his puppiness disappearing and his dogginess growing.  In the video, Max had been fetching for about 20 minutes, so I ran in to get a camera.  By the time I got out, all he wanted to do was chill out in the shade.  It was sunny and a little warm.  Maltese don’t look so cute and cuddly when they are muddy.

Here are a couple of pictures to show how much the little guy is growing.

Maximus of Malta

There was a request for pictures of Max.  Though he is Marcela’s dog, I have to admit that I like the little guy.  He’s not going to be big enough to really protect Marcela, unless she’s attacked by a mouse, but he likes to play and lay on you and sleep.  That’s good enough.
