Love and Power

At the Passover celebration where Jesus was with his disciples for the last time, Jesus gave a new commandment.  It’s interesting we as believers look for that awesome power of God, and we should.  Yet, in Jesus new commandment, it wasn’t His miracle working power that He declared w0uld show the world that we are his disciples.  He didn’t say that when we healed the sick, cast out demons, or raised the dead that the world would know we are His.  He said to love each other.  This is the key!  Faith and hope are great, but love is greater.  In the context of I Corinthians 13, we can prophecy, speak in all languages, and have so much faith that we could move mountains, but without love it all means nothing.  Power without love is temporary, because all these wonderful miracles will cease one day.  Love will last forever.

John 13:34-35 34 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. 35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.
I Corinthians 13:13 13 Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.
