Hey, we knew Spuds McKenzie was cool. But he has nothing on Tyson. Maybe one day, Max can attain just a fraction of Tyson’s coolness. One problem is that our little fluffy pal Max is too often mistaken for a girl. But then again in these days, that’s not a disqualifying factor.

These are my favorite animals as pets.
#5. Rabbits – I had a rabbit when I was a kid. These guys are cute, smart, and pretty clean. They also do not make much noise. They poop in little pellets which does help in clean up. Unfortunately, they drop hair and they aren’t really good for anything but dinner. LOL JK They make good pets if they get used to being handled. And what is cuter than a little bunny?
#4. Betta (fish) – The great thing about bettas is that they live in a little filterless tank. They are happy in a small enclosure, easy to care for, easy to move around, beautiful, and they only live 3 years (give or take a little). That means they won’t burden you down with their care for too long. Get a pair and put them in two tank beside each other and watch them flare up ready for battle. Did I mention that all the most beautiful ones are males?
#3. Cats/Kittens – Admittedly, I would never want a cat in my house. They make the house smell, they are aloof, they require attention to prevent hairballs and destructive behavior, they drop hair everywhere, and they are natural hunters which makes it hard to have some of the other pets mentioned in this list along with the cat. However, they can be cuddly at times and when they are in the mood make great hands on pets.
#2. Parrots – I am a fan of birds because they are so smart. They look at you and you can tell they are thinking and problem solving. They can be mischievous and noisy at times, but they are good pets. They also can be kept in a cage while you are gone at work and you don’t have to feel guilty.
#1. Dogs – Of course, did you think any different? I love dogs, puppies, big dogs, little ones, mean looking dogs, cute dogs, long haired dogs, shaggy dogs, short haired dogs, it doesn’t matter. Dogs are man’s best friend! They look to you for protection, food, shelter and love. When you come home, your dog doesn’t care if you had a great day or a lousy day at work. He just wags and licks as always. No pet in the world can compare with a loyal dog.
Christmas day is almost here so Marcela and I wanted to get a Christmas picture of jolly ole St. Max for the blog today, especially for Ela. Marcela had a little flashing hat. The funny thing is that he didn’t even try to take the hat off.
Aside: The pictures are taken with my new Curve, which for some reason takes better pictures than the old one.
Last night, I snapped off these pictures of Max. Marcela bathed him and gave him a good brushing so he’s a little fluff ball here.
You can see that Max is getting bigger.
Every time I post a picture or a new video of Maximus minimus, you can see his puppiness disappearing and his dogginess growing. In the video, Max had been fetching for about 20 minutes, so I ran in to get a camera. By the time I got out, all he wanted to do was chill out in the shade. It was sunny and a little warm. Maltese don’t look so cute and cuddly when they are muddy.
Here are a couple of pictures to show how much the little guy is growing.
By POOPular demand, this is your weekly Max update. Tammy fell in love with a Shih Tzu pup, and now she is not sure she can keep it. She named her Lucille after Lucille Ball. Max, the gladiator of a dog that he is, was afraid to hurt the pup. So every time Lucy came close, Max took off running.
When Ela requests something, you better snap to it! Seriously, Max is a funny little fella. I came home today and he had been tucked away in his day crate which gives him enough room to play a little, eat, and do his business on a puppy pad. But he it’s still a cage, so it’s not like he has room to run. I let him out and he ran to the door barking at me to open the door so he could get outside. After I let him out to the park in front of my house off the leash, he goes to take care of his duties, and runs around in the park chasing leaves anything else that moves. A fella walks by with his Spitz on a leash and of course, Max does not meet a stranger be it human or animal. He loves to meet other dogs especially. So he runs to “Brutus”, the Spitz, and tries to play with him. All the while, Brutus is looking at him like he’s crazy. He takes off running circles around the guy with his dog and I am yelling at him to stop and Brutus is chasing Max in circles wrapping his master up in the leash. Anyway, I met the guy and talked for a while about the association, dogs, the economy, and internet services that are now available. He really liked Max though, and I apologized for not having Max leashed and causing the trouble. He was really cool about it. If only people were like that, friendly with each other that is, not the running circles and playing with each other. 🙂
